Seniors kick start season
Glen Seniors played their second game of the season away to Banagher and recorded their first two points of the season with an impressive victory by the narrowest of margins. Ciaran O'Neill top scored with five points, with four efforts coming from play. Conleth Moran also played a impressive part, contributing three points.
Banagher lead at half time on a scoreline of 1-06 to 0-06. Glen put in a much better second half, and in a tight finish Niall McKenna added two points to secure a deserved victory. Final score Banagher 1-10 Glen 0-14. Best for Glen Ciaran O'Neill, Conleth Moran and John McCamley.

Thirds Lose to Ogra
The Thirds had another disappointing result against Ogra Colmcille. Once again Glen fielded a depleted side with Barry Murtagh and Paul Downey again absent without leave. The home side were 6 points down at the interval but in the second half the thirds showed an improved performance and played with much more conviction, but a fitter Orga team ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 0-09 to 1-17.

Reserves Start Season With Win
The reserves took on a Loup second string in a rearranged fixture at home on Saturday evening. Loup played the better football in the opening half and they scored some fine points. Glen were unsettled when star defender James McCullagh had to leave the field with a nasty head injury after an accidental clash of heads.
In the second period Glen played some great football with the little and large show of Conal McKee and Mickey McCullagh tormenting the Loup defense and picking off some great scores. Glen ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of 3-09 to 0-13
Best for Glen were Barry McCusker, Dan Heaney, and Mickey McCullagh. The team was John Glass, SP McKee, Barry McCusker, James McCullagh, Declan Brolly, Pearce Regan, Gary McMaster, Gavin O'Kane, Paul McCloskey, Dan Heaney (0-01), Paddy McCullagh (5 wides), Brian Kelly (0-01), Ben McGuckin, Mickey McCullagh (2-05) and Conal McKee (1-02). Glen U11’s win Carryduff Tournament
On Sunday past Watty Graham’s Glen travelled to Carryduff, outside Belfast to take part in an Under 11 football tournament.
The tournament had an unusual dimension in that it was a ‘points only’ format in which goals did not count. Teams lined out fourteen aside, normal gaelic selection excluding a goalkeeper. Participating teams were Carryduff (Down), Lamh Dhearg (Antrim), Glen (Derry), St Enda’s Omagh (Tyrone) and Clann Eireann (Armagh).
Glen competed in the long kick tournament first with winners Conor Convery (1st), Stevie O’Hara (2nd) and Cahir Glass (3rd).
Glen’s first match was against Clan Eireann in which Glen selected to play with the breeze in the 1st half. At half time they lead 2:0 the scores coming from C Convery and S O’Hara. Against the breeze in the 2nd half they held their opponents to a draw, one point each; the Glen score coming from super sub C McCloy (Kiwi). Final score Glen 0:3 Clann Eireann 0:1.
For the second fixture Glen met Lamh Dhearg from Antrim. Against a gritty Antrim side, Glen notched up 7 scores holding the Lamh Dhearg team to a point. The scores coming from C Convery, C Mulholland, C Glass and D Tallon.
Glen’s third game and ultimately the tournament decider was against the host club Carryduff. Carryduff fielded a strong physical side, but Glen stood up to the challenge and in this period matched Carryduff score for score, drawing 2 all at half time. The second half saw Glen battle against the opposition and the hail showers and with Stevie O’Hara starting to dominate at midfield, they ran out winners scoring 3 points in this period to Carryduff 1. Glen scores coming from C Convery 4 and P Gunning 1.
In the final game against Omagh, Glen battled hard for every ball to finish all games unbeaten. Glen 0:9 St Enda’s 0:2. Scores C Convery (6) D Tallon (2) S OHara (1).
Well done to all the players who gave it their all against strong opposition and winter weather conditions. They were best served on the day by Conor Convery, Cahal Mulholland, Stevie O Hara and Danny Tallon. Watty Grahams Glen would like to acknowledge and thank Carryduff GAC for the opportunity to participate in this tournament and for their hospitality throughout.
All the end of the games Stevie O’Hara accepted the First Trust Trophy for Glen and medals were awarded to all players who competed.

The senior team hosted Loup for the first league game of the year on Sunday and visitors came out on top by three points after a disappointing display by Glen.
Glen started the better with Gary Burke taking a well taken point. Loup then scored two points before Burke got Glen on level terms with a pointed free. Loup then gained supremacy around the middle sector and scored three unanswered points. Gary Burke then added another pointed free after good work by Ciaran O'Neill to leave the halftime score 0-5 to 0-3 Loup's favor.
After the interval Loup remained in the ascendancy and scored four unanswered points. Glen did make a late comeback with points coming from Ciaran O'Neill, Mickey McCullagh and Gary Burke. Glen did have a chance to grab an equalizer at the death but missed vital chances. Final score 0-09 to 0-06.
